Indie Craft Bazaar is this weekend!

This is such a fun show.  It always looks like both the vendors and the shoppers are enjoying themselves at an ICB and that’s always a good creative energy.

2014 October ICB

Don’t be fooled by the name.  It’s not like any bazaar you’ve been to with Grandma.  There are amazing local artists that vend here.  Picture this: a pop up shop for one day only.  Local artists who make everything from clothes to art to home decor to beef jerky to sweets and of course jewelry.  And it’s all handcrafted and sold by the maker.  The only exception to handmade are the vendors that have collections of lovely vintage things.  So basically it’s a place to have a drink with friends and shop for some of the coolest things around. While there you can grab a bite to eat from one of the food trucks or one of the vendors with specialized goods.  Personally the beef jerky is one of my favorites from Helen at Novae Gourmet. We’re generally close to each other so I have the pleasure of nibbles.  So grab a friend and come by for an afternoon of good times.  The first 100 people in the door get swag bags filled with neat stuff from various vendors including coupons, specials and samples.  My contribution is a halloween ring (the kitschy plastic ones) and a scratch off ticket for my booth.  You could win a ring, necklace or even a coupon from my web store to help out with your holiday shopping.

Hope to see you Sunday!

Red Jasper and Stitch Rock

I really wish that I had a lot more of this rock.  It takes a good polish and is a deep blood red with bits of hematite (blackish silver) just so so pretty. After I cut and polished the stone I set it in sterling silver.  It’s not a huge ring but it definitely makes a statement.

This is one of the new pieces that I’m bringing to Stitch Rock.  A week from tomorrow.  I’m happy to say that I’m ready.  Stitch rock is Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Old School Square in Delray Beach, FL.  If you are anywhere close you should come check it out.  It’s an Indie Art Show- don’t let the name fool you.  There’s not just stitched things and it’s not like your Gramma’s craft show.  It’s a bunch of small businesses that make cool stuff all in one place.  The variety will amaze you.  The talent will blow you away.  There is so much cool stuff that it can be overwhelming. It’s not for everyone.  It’s for people that appreciate unique and handmade.  Check out their website for info about vendors.

So I have new things.  Old favorites.  And things in between.  But I seriously love this ring.  I wonder if it has magic powers??? I smile whenever I try it on.  Hope to see you at the show!

Cutting Turquoise

August 2014 Turquoise wThis piece of turquoise is almost finished.  I’ve got one last “wheel” before I polish it.  This week has kept me a bit busy but I’m hoping to finish this sweet stone in the next couple of days.  It’s got both greens and blues with little bits of brownish matrix.  I seriously love cutting turquoise.  At this point in the process I still haven’t decided if this will be a ring or a necklace.  There’s still time for that.  I’ll have to check my records to see if I was given the mine where this came from.  All I can say right now is it’s from the US.
